OBJECTIVES

The objective of this course is to introduce the student to Dynamic Analysis using Finite Elements, so that they obtain the necessary skills to be able to use the method professionally.

ANSYS Mechanical (also called ANSYS Workbench) is a project-management tool. It can be considered as a high-level interface linking all the software tools. ANSYS Workbench handles the passing of data between ANSYS Geometry / Mesh / Solver / Post processing tools.

This course has been created as a collaboration between UNED University and Ingeciber, S.A., a company that specializes in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE).

ANSYS Mechanical will be studied during the course:

COURSE CONTENTS

The course consists of two subjects:

-     1st Subject: Introduction to the use of the application software.

Procedures and understandiing to perform Modal Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, Transient Analysis and Response Spectrum Analysis

Practice exercises from ANSYS’s workbook solved step by step will be provided.

-     2nd Subject: Practical application with ANSYS Mechanical.

These exercises should be solved and submitted to the professor for review.

APPLIED EXERCISES

The exercises represent a review of the concepts introduced in the subjects taken up to now, as well as the orderly use of the ANSYS Mechanical software.  The exercises will be similar to the following ones:

- Harmonic / Frequency analysis of a bedplate
- Transitory analysis of a bedplate
- Pre-stressed modal analysis of a guitar string
- Modal, harmonic and resonance analyses of an impulse system
- Spectral modal analysis of an instrument panel
- Mechanical analysis of a wheel rim
- Nonlinear transitory analysis of a cylinder system
